Knit Print
Trend Forcasting
2019 - DAE - NETHERLAND
This material study aims to explore the overlap between technology and body structure by combining two emerging trends in the sport industry: knitting and 3D printing.
Creating devices which understand divers body structures for athletes throught the process of 3d scanning. We explored 3 caracteristics of textiles in relation to the body.
- Moisture Management; Inspired by the spider web, we tried to open the knit in specific area according to the heat map of the athlete, the transpiration can flow to the surface of the fabric.
- Performance; We looked into the structure of the muscle and tried to make a surface that collapse the soft knit and follow the muscle compression.
- Protection; The focus was creating a hard shell for the fabric while preserving the flexibity of the movement.
